How we Ship and Pack our Read & Walk StoryWalk© Signs
Packing the Read & Walk
This is how we prepare and ship an order of our Read & Walk panels—a superior version of a traditional StoryWalk® sign designed for a richer, more dependable outdoor reading experience. The Read & Walk system is part of our broader portfolio of custom sign solutions built for educational, interpretive, and institutional settings like parks, botanical gardens, historic sites, and nature centers.
With clever thinking from Karl and Brian, we devised creative packaging strategies to ensure these reading trail sign panels arrive safe, secure, and installation-ready.
Our Packaging Method: Wrap, Pad, Stack
Our Secret Ingredient? Pool Noodles.
At the Lark Signs, pool noodles are one of our most versatile tools. We use them for padding vulnerable edges and even turn them into improvised handles—making the heavy, printable anodized aluminum signs much easier to move. This level of care ensures the durable signage stays pristine from shop to site.
When you’re shipping interpretive panels, outdoor educational signage, or custom wayfinding markers, every bit of cushioning counts.
Building the Pallet: A Custom Approach to Shipping Sign Systems
Because every Read & Walk order is unique, standard crates or pallets don’t always do the job. That’s why we fabricate custom pallets and shipping containers right here in the shop. This allows us to reinforce key stress points, stack items safely, and tailor the base to match the footprint of your sign system.
For this job, the customer wanted the stand attached to mount. Usually, we ship with the mount only. This custom pallet ensured each StoryWalk© panel sat stable and snug—ready for transport and installation.
Why It Matters
Every shipment is a chance to showcase our commitment to quality, longevity, and user experience. When your community receives a Read & Walk, they’re getting more than just signs—they’re getting a robust, turnkey educational signage system built from proven materials with a Lark Signs guarantee.
By combining craftsmanship, smart packing, and superior materials, we help communities install reading walk sign systems that last for years—and make every step along the trail part of the story.
