Looking for a fresh, feel-good StoryWalk book that gets families reading, moving, and smiling from sign to sign? Meemaw and DC Go Biking — StoryWalk Version is a ready-to-install StoryWalk format book created specifically for organizations that already have StoryWalk signs and want an easy, engaging new title to rotate in.
This heartwarming summer story follows DC and his grandmother, Meemaw, through a day of biking adventures—complete with a catchy refrain, friendly neighborhood moments, and a fun finish that invites kids to participate, not just listen.
If your library, park, school, or community group is planning your next StoryWalk installation, add this title to your upcoming StoryWalk schedule.
Why this StoryWalk Book Works for Libraries, Parks, and Community Trails
StoryWalks are at their best when they encourage early literacy + movement + connection—and this one checks every box.
Themes families love (and educators appreciate)
Family connection: a special summer day between grandparent and child
Responsibility before fun: helping out, practicing patience, following directions
Bike safety: a gentle, positive reminder about helmets and safe choices
Community & kindness: neighbors, greetings, and everyday helpers
Outdoor play: biking, being active, and ending the day with joy
These themes naturally spark conversation—perfect for family engagement, storytime extensions, and community literacy events.
Want a StoryWalk title that supports social-emotional learning, community connection, and outdoor activity? Choose Meemaw and DC Go Biking for your next StoryWalk rotation.
Made for StoryWalk Signs: Pre-Formatted and Ready to Install
This isn’t a standard picture book you have to re-layout. This is a StoryWalk Version—meaning it’s already prepared in a sign-friendly, page-by-page format designed to fit StoryWalk displays.
Even better: it includes built-in Activity Prompts that encourage kids to move, notice details, and talk about the story as they walk.
That means less prep time for you—and a better experience for families on the trail. If you don’t have time to wait for the printed version, download the digital version and receive it immediately to print at your office! If you don’t have one of our Waterproof StoryWalk signs, you will have to laminate the pages as well to keep them from getting water damage.
Save staff time and skip the formatting step. Order the pre-formatted StoryWalk pages and install with confidence.
A Bonus That Sets This StoryWalk Apart: Music + Movement
Many StoryWalk titles include great reading moments—but this one adds something extra: a repeated, singable biking refrain and a closing page with music that invites families and groups to participate together.
That makes it a great fit for:
Library StoryWalk programs
Parks & Recreation StoryWalk trails
School StoryWalks and family literacy nights
Downtown / Main Street StoryWalk events
Bike safety weeks and summer reading programs
Planning a themed installation (summer reading, bike rodeo, “Move & Read” events)? Pair this StoryWalk with a community activity day and watch participation soar.
Who This StoryWalk Is Perfect For
If your organization maintains StoryWalk signage, this title is especially great for:
Public libraries and Friends groups
Parks departments and trail organizations
Elementary schools, PTO/PTA groups
Early learning centers and child-care programs
Community coalitions focused on wellness and literacy
It’s a natural match for Pre-K through early elementary, while still being fun for mixed-age families walking together.

About the book:
DC is spending summer in South Carolina with his grandmother, Meemaw—where every day holds a little magic. When Meemaw surprises him with a new bike, DC can hardly wait to ride, but Meemaw reminds him: helping first and staying safe matter, too. Together they cruise through the neighborhood singing their “Let’s Go Biking” song, greeting neighbors, handling a few unexpected bumps along the way, and ending the day with friends, food, and gratitude.
